To save data to an Oracle server, first download and install the latest version of the Oracle client libraries from Oracle's website. At this time they are named: Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Client (11.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (32-bit) Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Client (11.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64) Once installed select Options from the Tools menu item. Select the History tab. Select the Oracle provider and set the appropriate parameters. Added support for CDYNE SMS gateway. Aliased computers not display in the following format within all the wizards: ALIAS (HOSTNAME or IP). Fixed a bug seen rarely on Windows XP workstations where a bogus empty domain appeared within the network object discover tree controls. To alias a computer name select File | Map Computer. Type the hostname, any required logon credentials and finally specify the alias. The function has been updated to get detailed information which should help the user troubleshoot the error better. Previously if a user disabled the SMART monitor within a disk monitor the application would continue to retrieve the status when viewed within the user interface. When a group is added, the tree view now automatically sorts. When a group is renamed, the groups can be sorted by pressing F5. Previously after mapping a computer, the Network Disk Explorer appended the mapped computer to the tree view rather than inserting the node in the appropriate alphanumerically sorted location. The tree node is now properly inserted into the list of mapped computers. The web server disk group detail HTML template has been updated wrap the Message column. Previously the Utilization column incorrectly sorted by the Used Size instead of the Used Percent. This bug has been fixed. Previously the % of Disk column incorrectly sorted by the Directory Size instead of the % of Disk value. This bug has been fixed. When re-configuring a Directory Summary report in which one of the computers within the report no longer contains directory monitors an object reference error was thrown after the user clicked the Select All button within the Select Directories page. The report is now displayed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 10.0.0.45 - Tue, 25 May 2010 17:15:23 MDT --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Several customers had notified us that their SMART status monitor were randomly returning success and error results for the same disk. The following errors were possible: "Unable to retrieve logical disk" or "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". The behavior is absolutely unexpected. We wrote a test application to call WMI on a remote computer from various threads at the same time and reproduced the error. Apparently WMI can return nondeterministic results. We don't know of any way around this WMI bug, however, after adding a single simple retry we seem to always get the expected results. Long story short, we added a retry to the SMART status monitor. Previously uses were only able to schedule our Duplicate Files Report. Users can now run Duplicate Files Reports on demand. Once run a the report is displayed within the user interface. The About Box now includes the number of license computers being monitored and when not an Unlimited license, the remaining # of computers that can be monitored. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 10.0.0.43 - Thu, 20 May 2010 14:03:35 MDT --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Users can now print the Directory Monitor list within the Dashboard as well as on-demand Directory Summary Reports. The directory summary HTML templates were updated to include all the directory watcher values. When mapping computers using an IP address, users may have seen an error stating the host could not be resolved. This bug has been fixed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 10.0.0.41 - Tue, 18 May 2010 09:45:09 MDT --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Previously both the disk and directory monitors would continually fire if both the warning and critical thresholds were crossed. This bug has been fixed. Previously both the disk and directory monitors would automatically clear the next time a scan ran and the sizes were below the threshold. This behavior was incorrect. The alert state now remains triggered until the service automatically clears the state or the user manually clears the state. Previously the vertical axis on the history chart incorrectly displayed "Free Space (GB)". The label has been changed to "Disk Space (GB)". Previously when creating a directory based report, users could not add a computer unless the computer already had at least one directory monitor assigned. Users can now add any computer that has at least one disk monitor assigned. Within the same wizard previously all monitored directories were automatically selected. The wizard now leaves the directories de-selected forcing the user to explicitly check the directories to include in the report. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 10.0.0.37 - Fri, 14 May 2010 11:17:06 MDT --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The automated duplicate files and file access reports could pre-maturely return if a file was deleted while the scan was running. This bug has been fixed. Previously when creating directory based reports, the application only allowed users to select monitored directories. For example, history saved to the file system can not be converted into SQL Server. Automated Disk Summary reports can now be sorted by free space, percent free, used space, percent used, and capacity. Users can also specify the sort order (ascending or descending). Users can now specify a report description. The disk history is now automatically displayed when a disk is selected within the dashboard or disk summary report. Users can now print Disk Summary Reports on demand. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 10.0.0.30 - Wed, 05 May 2010 13:30:26 MDT --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Previously directory scans were bypassing directories with the "NotContentIndexed" attribute set. This exclusion was included to stop recursive scans into the "Application Data" directory present within Server 2008 and Vista. Bypassing directories with this attribute caused the "Program Data" directory on Server 2008 to be bypassed. We have switched the application to bypass directories with the "ReparsePoint" tag instead. Using this tag appears to resolve both issues. Previously the {HOST} and {PATH} tags were not replaced when used within the Subject field of a Disk or Directory Summary Email Report. This bug has been fixed. Previously SMART Disk Monitor 2008 directory monitor templates did not properly import. For example, users can now configure a monitor to shutdown Sunday from 8:00 - 12:00. Previously when selecting computers not configured within the Active Directory or Network panes within the Navigation view the Disk Monitor Wizard did not automatically create new configurations for the selected item. Instead the user was prompted to select a computer. The wizard will now open and populate with the selected computers. This bug has been fixed. Previously the HTML based email alerts failed to fire because the template was missing from the installation. If the primary is down or is unable to send your message, the software will attempt to send the email using your configured backup email server. We added a new tutorial that shows users how to configure Gmail as a backup email server. Users can now view the consumption rate within the Disk Properties dialog. When deleting temporary files within the on-demand temporary file report the dialog now displays a finished message and the number of errors indicating the function has completed. When scanning directories via the on-demand directory summary report the dialog now displays the current directory being scanned. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 10.0.0.22 - Wed, 14 Apr 2010 11:42:37 MDT --------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have added four tutorials to help teach users how to use this software. A significant memory optimization was made to the duplicate files report. Several minor UI changes were made to the Directory Monitor Wizard. Previously when deleting an object from the tree the previous sibling or parent would be auto selected causing the detail view to refresh. This was extremely annoying. The detail view is now closed after the object is deleted. Previously the temporary file summary within the Dashboard displayed an Error image after configured and prior to the first schedule. Any combination of the options can be used. The directory monitor exclusions failed to work on the localhost. This bug has been fixed. Previously if focus was in one of the navigation panes and a detail view was open the refresh command would only refresh the detail view. Previously if the file count or change in directory size monitors were only enabled for warning thresholds the monitor did not fire alerts. These bugs have been fixed. Fixed several alert state icon refresh issues within the UI. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 10.0.0.17 - Fri, 09 Apr 2010 13:06:41 MDT --------------------------------------------------------------------------- When upgrading from SMART Disk Monitor 2008 the license file was not migrated. The license file is now migrated. When upgrading from SMART Disk Monitor 2008 and the user previously assigned disks from the same computer to different logical groups, the importer did not function correctly. This bug has been fixed. Please note computers are now assigned to logical groups rather than shares. Previously when a monitor's alert state was set users were unable to clear the alert state via the Dashboard. Users can now clear alerts via the Dashboard. Previously the Dashboard was very difficult to resize. The expander controls have been replaced with tabs. The Reports tab within the Dashboard now enables users to right click on an item and run a report, open the Report Properties Wizard, and delete the report. Previously directory summary reports run against the localhost incorrectly removed the first character in each sub-directory when displayed within the results. This bug has been fixed. Previously the images associated with the web server output were not copied to the default output location causing some of the HTML documents to display without all the images. Our new software has been re-written from the ground up utilizing all the new front and back end design and architecture found in our latest versions of Corner Bowl Log Manager and Internet Server Monitor. Our most significant new feature is the ability to automatically delete idle temporary files on all your remote systems. We have also added a SMART detail view that shows information such as disk temperature. Also worth mentioning, we re-designed all of our reports for better user interaction. The BETA version of Corner Bowl Disk Monitor 2010 DOES NOT include a conversion program for current customers. This functionality will be added in the coming weeks. The BETA version of Corner Bowl Disk Monitor 2010 DOES NOT include a help file. The exception caused the scan to halt. The scan now logs the issue and continues scanning. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 8.0.0.34 - Tue, 25 Aug 2009 10:31:00 MDT --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The directory monitor now enables users to monitor the number of files contained within a directory structure. To monitor the number of files within a directory structure, right click on the directory and select Directory Monitor Wizard. Navigate to the Warning or Critical tabs. Set the option to monitor the number of files. The email HTML template has been updated to include the number of files within the directory. If using text based emails or message box alerts, open the Actions Manager and reset the content by clicking on the Default button. Doing so will add the file count to the message. If firing another type of alert you can add the tag to the alert to see the number of files contained within the directory structure. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 8.0.0.33 - Tue, 05 May 2009 06:38:45 MDT --------------------------------------------------------------------------- When impersonating to Windows 2000 computers users may have received an invalid logon failure. This bug has been resolved. We upgraded the 3rd party toolbar, docking bar, and menu bar controls to the vendor’s latest version. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 8.0.0.31 - Tue, 03 Mar 2009 12:43:20 MST --------------------------------------------------------------------------- When using the Active Directory Auto Configurator, the schedule would typically run one minute late. This bug has been resolved. When removing a computer from the Active Directory Auto Configurator exclusion list the user interface did not remove the computer name from the list even though the backend removed the computer from the exclusion list. This bug has been resolved. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 8.0.0.30 - Fri, 02 Jan 2009 11:13:13 MST --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The directory summary reports now append to the directory size history file as well as write out configured directory size report files. This functionality enables users to scan multiple directories serially. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 8.0.0.29 - Tue, 23 Dec 2008 05:33:37 MST --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The automated access permission report incorrectly dropped the username and path from the reports when exported to CSV or XML. This bug has been fixed. Per a user’s request fading popup menu items is now a user settable option. To disable the fading popup menu items select Options from the Tools menu item. Select the Display tab. Select None from the Popup animation check box. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 8.0.0.27 - Tue, 02 Dec 2008 08:46:58 MST --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This build includes several updates to the access permissions reports. The reports have been updated to display shorter descriptions for each assigned permission and type of permission. In an effort to enable users to display rights for all first level sub-directories an option has been added to ignore the root directory. The HTML template now enables users to group directory access permissions by username. A new template called access_permissions_group_user.html has been added to the templates directory that facilitates this functionality. In previous builds when requesting permissions for an entire disk that contained system volume information an access denied error was thrown immediately stopping the report. The report now continues to run. SMART Disk Monitor now includes a largest files report. To execute the largest files report, navigate to the disk or directory of interest, right click and select Largest Files Report. Specify the number of files to include in the report and click Run Report. Once complete you can export the results, print the results, and select multiple files to delete. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 8.0.0.25 - Sun, 23 Nov 2008 01:58:30 MST --------------------------------------------------------------------------- In previous builds many users were getting confused when assigning actions to SMART status alerts, error alerts, and directory size alerts. We have added a statement above each control set explaining that only the action types associated with the controls are listed. We also changed the behavior of the Actions Manager dialog to default new actions to the type associated with the controls the user invoked the Actions Manager from. For example, if the user is on the SMART tab within the Disk Monitor Configuration Wizard and they click on the manage actions button (wrench and yellow triangle), the Actions Manager dialog now defaults new actions to SMART monitor type rather than Disk as the dialog did prior to this build. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 8.0.0.24 - Fri, 14 Nov 2008 02:08:37 MST --------------------------------------------------------------------------- In previous builds the installation did not automatically install the platform dependent .Net 2.0 Framework on I64 and X64 computers that did not already have the prerequisite installed. The installation has been modified to, if necessary, download the prerequisites from Microsoft and install them. In previous builds the tray icon had a one minute delay built in as a work around for a startup issue rarely seen on Windows Vista. We believe we have resolved the issue and have therefore removed the startup delay. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 8.0.0.23 - Tue, 28 Oct 2008 02:11:22 MDT --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The query disks dialog now uses a background thread pool that enables users to cancel out of the dialog prior to completion. The Directory Monitor Wizard menu item is now enabled when ever the user selects a directory. If the directory’s disk is not currently being monitored a message box now displays prompting the user to configure the disk for monitoring. In previous builds the help displayed an empty page when the user pressed F1 from within the Directory Monitor Wizard. This bug has been fixed. The update software schedule incorrectly defaulted to once a day rather than once a week. This bug has been fixed. When dragging and dropping a monitored disk to another logical group, the expanded directory tree nodes would incorrectly show a check box. This bug has been fixed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 8.0.0.20 - Thu, 23 Oct 2008 02:06:10 MDT --------------------------------------------------------------------------- When rebooting a Server 2003 machine, the service would fail to start when the service was configured to forward internal messages to a syslog server. The failure occurs when the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service has not yet started. The installation has been updated to install the service with a dependency on WMI. We have added the ability for users to permanently disable the tray icon from within the user interface. To permanently disable the tray icon, select Options from the Tools menu item. The configuration wizard has been redesigned. When querying disks, a thread for each disk is used. This significantly increases performance when monitoring many disks frequently. WMI support was dropped and instead use Windows shares. Systems that do not support WMI but support Windows shares can now be inspected. For example Linux systems with Samba installed or older RAID devices. If no emails are set to fire and a threshold is crossed, the service now logs a message stating the disk's configured threshold was crossed. Folders that are configured for reporting now have an icon for visual identification. You can now select multiple disks in the list view and configure them. You can now update the credentials for a mapped computer. The treeview navigation was cleaned up. Updated the licensing scheme to include a digitally signed license file that must be downloaded from our registration web service. Redesigned about dialog and include new license information.
