Corner Bowl Disk Monitor
SMART Predictive Disk Failure Monitoring
Corner Bowl Disk Monitor is a network wide disk monitoring tool enabling
System Administrators to centrally monitor free disk space, utilization, SMART
predictive failure notifications, directory sizes, largest files, temporary
files, access permissions, file extension break down and active or idle files.
Monitor SMART Predictive Disk Failure Alerts
Most disk manufactures now include SMART predictive failure support.
Prior to degraded performance or disk failure a notification is sent to Windows.
Most commonly a SMART alert triggers when a disk fails within an attached RAID device.
Windows reports this information through Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) enabling management applications to monitor both local and remote servers.
Disk Monitor includes a SMART predictive failure monitor which polls the SMART status at a frequency you define, for example once a minute.
Once set you can receive an alert such as an email, desktop alert, or SNMP trap notifying you of the degraded performance or disk failure.
SMART Status Attributes
Disk Monitor enables you to remotely view all the SMART attribute values associated with a disk.
For example, view the Raw Read Error Rate and Temperature.
Although the implementation and value definition of these attributes is up to each manufacturer,
you are able to view the current, worst and threshold values as defined by the disk manufacturer.
